Shema - Hear - Week 1

Current Sermon Series: “The Shema…Deuteronomy 6:4-5”

“HEAR, O Israel:  The LORD our God, the Lord is one.  LOVE the Lord your God with all your HEART and with all your SOUL and with all your STRENGTH.”   Deuteronomy 6:4-5

For thousands of years, Jewish people have prayed these well-known words every morning and every evening as a way of expressing their devotion to God.  They are simply called “the Shema” taken from the very first word in the Hebrew of Deuteronomy 6:4-5.  In our sermon series, we are going to closely examine some of the words of the Shema to discover what they meant to the people of Bible times, and what they should mean for us each and every day.
