Jr. High Empower Bible Study (Grades 6-8) Begins January 5
9:00 a.m. at Living Hope Lutheran Church
We are excited to offer middle-school-age students an opportunity for Biblical teaching and discussion during the Education hour on Sunday mornings. Each week we will examine different topics and sections of the Bible and apply them to our lives as young Christians. Sometimes, we do other activities and projects during the time to keep our Sunday mornings filled with adventure and variety.
Sr. High Horizon (Grades 9-12) 6:30 p.m. at Living Hope Begins January 19
On Sunday Nights, we look forward to gathering together with other Christian teens. It is a great time to connect through snacks and games, and to discuss issues that are looming large in our lives. We do our best to blend in solid Biblical study with real-life applications on the topics in front of us each week.
Tuesdays
Men’s Bible Class 6:30 a.m. at Bloomington Lutheran School Begins January 7
Solomon was the wisest man to ever live. He wrote Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, and most of the Proverbs. Solomon built God’s temple in Jerusalem. He was a scholar, diplomat, poet, collector, and a patron of the arts. The first half of 1 Kings tells about Solomon’s accension to king, his reign and accomplishments, and his downfall. The second half of 1 Kings tells the story of the kingdom dividing and the sending of one of God’s greatest prophets, Elijah, to proclaim his messages. Join us on Tuesday mornings to follow the story that began some 3,000 years ago. If you would like to be added to the email list, please let me know at medlund@thesfc.com. We meet at Bloomington Lutheran School at 6:30am and most Tuesdays are followed by pickleball at 7:30am. Please email Mark Edlund at medlund@thesfc.com if you would like to be added to the email list.

We will be reading the book Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family by Paul David Tripp. The book describes itself like this: What is your calling as a parent?
In the midst of folding laundry, coordinating carpool schedules, and breaking up fights, many parents get lost. Feeling pressure to do everything “right” and raise up “good” children, it’s easy to lose sight of our ultimate purpose as parents in the quest for practical tips and guaranteed formulas.
In this life-giving book, Paul Tripp offers parents much more than a to-do list. Instead, he presents us with a big-picture view of God’s plan for us as parents. Outlining fourteen foundational principles centered on the gospel, he shows that we need more than the latest parenting strategy or list of techniques. Rather, we need the rescuing grace of God—grace that has the power to shape how we view everything we do as parents.
Freed from the burden of trying to manufacture life-change in our children’s hearts, we can embrace a grand perspective of parenting overflowing with vision, purpose, and joy.

Women of Hope Bible Study In the Living Room at Living Hope
Morning Session - 9:15-11:00 a.m. (every Wednesday beginning January 8)
The book of Romans shows us the power of the gospel to bring clarity to everyday life through faith in Christ. By writing Romans, Paul provides a comprehensive overview of God's plan for salvation and how to live within that amazing plan.
In this video Bible study, "Romans: Live With Clarity", (video streaming included), Bible teacher Jada Edwards explores the Apostle Paul's expression of our faith in his letter to the Christians in Rome and what that gospel-driven faith looks like in practice: how we love people, how we make decisions, how we live in community, and how we foster unity with others.
By diving into this beautiful book, you'll discover the great gifts of the gospel—the forgiveness of sin, the removal of guilt, the promise of salvation, the wonder of grace, the strength of forgiveness, the power of the resurrection, and the guide for walking with greater clarity through life.
Join us Wednesdays starting Jan. 8 from 9:15-11:00 AM at Living Hope Church. Participants will need a study guide which can be purchased online ahead of time. Contact Tracy Birkholz with questions at tabirkholz@gmail.com.
Women’s Bible Study In the Living Room at Living Hope Evening Session - 7:00-8:30 (Jan 15, 29, Feb 12, 26, Mar 12, 26, Apr 9, 23) *begins at 7:20 during Lent
A one-stop resource for biblical truths on the toughest questions and most challenging situations including anxiety, depression, sexual intimacy, marriage, and more. Hot-button issues dominating our culture can make speaking out feel taboo. Hiding from hard conversations won’t work. We need to know what God actually says about these issues, and by looking to Scripture, we can find the answers.
In Taboo, author Mike Novotny covers deeply personal, vulnerable, and emotional topics, handling them with grace and respect. It’s the ultimate resource for Christians looking to create change and deal with struggles in their own lives.
God’s Word gives us clarity, healing, and hope. Taboo is a must-read for Christians looking for a biblically based resource to modern questions.
Not talking is not helping! It’s time for believers to step gracefully into the Taboo and share God’s truth with a world in need.
Please purchase the book Taboo: Topics Christians Should Be Talking About but Don't by Mike Novotny. For questions email Nicole Dub at nicole.dub@mybllh.org.
