What to Expect

Welcome!

We invite you to join us in worship at any of our services or to join us at one of our many events and groups. We are a single Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod congregation with two church campuses: Bloomington Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN and Living Hope Lutheran in Shakopee, MN. We also have one school that shares two campuses.

Take a look around.  We are so happy you are here!

What to Expect at Bloomington Living Hope

What's Worship like?

It is the gracious love of God, shown through his Son Christ Jesus that empowers every part of our ministry here at Bloomington Living Hope (BLH).  If you are visiting for the first time, our promise in worship is to share with you the truth of God' love and to help you grow in life-long Christian living.  Everyone is welcome to come and worship with us (that means you!).  We have two worship locations:  Bloomington Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN and Living Hope Lutheran Church in Shakopee, MN. Services are about one hour long and every week our worship is printed out in a bulletin for you and also projected on large screens so you will be able to follow along and participate during the service.  Each worship service is unique, designed around one common theme for that weekend.  Our musicians accompany hymns and songs in a variety of ways:  organ, piano, guitar, etc.  During the first three weeks of each month, our praise band travels between locations to lead worship with Christ-centered and upbeat music during our late morning Sunday services.

What about families with children?

Because Jesus too welcomed little children, we believe there is value for the entire family to worship together.  No worries about loud or crying children, we're just glad to welcome you and your family!  Kids are welcome to take a quiet bag or children's bulletin as they enter church to keep them occupied.  If needed, you can calm your children in the entrance area or nursery and still hear the service.  Every Sunday service also has a short devotion in front of church just for children. Our Living Hope location also has a worship service specifically for Families with Young Children.  The sermon during this service is the same as the other services during the weekend but the service itself is shorter and worship is made up of songs specifically for children. During our Sunday education hour, we have Sunday School and Bible Study opportunities for babies through adults.  To learn more about our Sunday School program, or to register your child, click here.

What should I wear?

Some wear blue suits and some wear blue jeans!  There is no dress code here at BLH, we are just happy to share the love of Christ with you and your family.

Will I be asked for money?

No one is required or pressured to give money during our worship services.  Each service we collect what is called a "freewill" offering.  The members of BLH give their voluntary offerings as an expression of worship to thank God for sharing his great love.  Money collected is used to support the ministry of BLH and never for a profit. If you are visiting with us we are glad to have you as our guest.  Please do not feel obligated to put an offering in the basket.  We hope you will consider worship as our gift to you.

How can I learn more about church membership and programs at BLH after I visit?

Visitors and members are asked to fill out the red friendship register each Sunday found in each row.  We use these registers to help our members grow in relationships with one another and to help us meet and welcome those who are visiting or new to BLH.  You can list your contact information and indicate if you would like to be contacted by our staff about our ministry. You can also email our church office at BLC@mybllh.org and request a contact from one of our pastors.
