Summer Schedule

In the summer, we like to give the Encounter Schedule some variety to highlight this fun time of year.

Sunday Night Study / Hoops: We are going to meet at Living Hope on Sunday night study only once a month, on those evenings when there is also Sunday Night Hoops. We will study from 6:00 – 7:00 PM, with Hoops for teens and adults running from 7:30 – 9:00 PM. Put these dates on your calendar: June 12th, July 9th, August 6th.

We are also going to continue our tradition of meeting at Caribou for Games and Bible Study. We will meet two Wednesday nights a month, at the new Caribou by the new Marcus Southbridge theater in Shakopee. Put these dates on your calendar for our Wednesday night gathering with fellowship and study at Caribou:

June 7, 21, July 12, 26, August 2, 16. We will meet from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.

We are also going to gather for a night of Capture the Flag on Sunday, July 23rd. We will meet from 5:30 – 9:00 PM. We will start with dinner, and wrap up with s’mores around the campfire. But, mostly, this will be a stealthy adventure in the woods behind church. (be prepared to get dirty, and have a lot of fun). In case of bad weather, we will turn this into an epic movie-night. This is a great event to bring a friend to.

June 25th-July 1st   REACH mission trip to Brownsville, PA

During this trip will stay at a local school and help repair, update, paint, and generally pour a little TLC into people’s homes in this community. To learn more about the city, and the REACH program in general, you can go here: http://www.reachmissiontrips.org/2017-brownsville-pennsylvania/

August 6th-12th   Costa Maya Mission Trip to Mahahual, Mexico.

The plan is to work with other churches to provide a four-week English as a Second Language (ESL) program for the Costa Maya community children. Bloomington Living Hope Lutheran Church will provide a team for the final week (August 6-August 12).

Vertical Encounters is our High School youth group serving the 9th through 12th graders at BLH.  This group is led by Joel Hansen, our Youth Minister, as well as Matt and Kelsey, our student leaders.

We exist to:

  • live in community with other teens

  • be active members of our church

  • develop a lifestyle of walking with Christ every day.

On Sunday nights, we look forward to gathering together with other Christian teens.  It is a great time to connect through snacks and games, and to discuss issues that are looming large in our lives.  We do our best to blend in solid Biblical study with real-life applications on the topics in front of us each week.

Join us for a lively discussion about faith, friends and how Christ encounters us in the midst of our everyday lives.

If you haven't already, please complete our online Youth Registration form so we can best prepare for the year.  We have many events planned, see the complete listing on our spring calendar or check out our upcoming events below, we hope you can join us.

30 Hour Famine - 2017

We are so thankful to have had a healthy and safe fast. We interviewed some of the students to hear about their experience. I hope it motivates you to think about ways you can support people in need around you. It sure has motivated us! We look forward to another Famine event in 2018.
