Have questions about the Bible that you don't know how to answer? Wondering how to defend your faith to neighbors and co-workers? Find out answers and more when Prof. Mark Paustian leads us in his presentation, Christian Apologetics – Here I Stand! Giving a Confident Answer for the Hope We Have

Wednesday, October 17

6:00 PM

Living Hope Lutheran Church

Mark Paustian is and outstanding speaker and Professor at Martin Luther College.

This presentation on Christian apologetics will explore the urgency of learning how to speak Christian truth where it is contested in our world.

A short list of issues and strategies will emerge that every Christian will want to master for the sake of the people we will meet and especially for the most vulnerable among us.

Sunday Morning Adult Bible Class
9:15 AM at BLC and 9:00 AM at Living Hope

This class will look carefully at the book of Philippians, which is a Prison Epistle (letter written while in prison). Paul sent this letter to show his appreciation and love to the Philippians for their continued help and support, and also to encourage their growth. It is a very personal letter that expresses Paul’s joy in Christ. Through discussion and the power of the Holy Spirit please join us as we too grow in the eternal joy that only God can give!

Jr. High Empower Bible Study
9:15 AM at BLC and 9:00 AM at Living Hope

This is a chance for 6th–8th graders to connect, talk about relevant issues, and learn how to live out their faith. We have an informal Bible study, discussions on current topics, and a focus on service. Register at bllh.org/ssconfreg.

Tuesday Morning Men’s Bible Class
6:30 AM at Bloomington Lutheran School

Do you think today’s culture is going to heck in a hand basket? Has our culture’s moral bank account fallen into the red? As the wise Solomon said, there is nothing new under the sun. Join us on Tuesday mornings as we study the moral decay of the people of Israel after the time of Joshua in the book of Judges. Come to get to know the God who can deliver us daily, just as he delivered the morally bankrupt people of Israel (again and again). Email Mark Edlund at medlund@thesfc.com if you would like to be added to the email list. (Pickleball follows at 7:30 AM)

Tuesday Evening Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing Bible Class
6:30 PM at Living Hope Lutheran Church

Since our summer hiatus is ending, it is time to continue our weekly study and discussion of the book of Revelation. This book provides believers with the beautiful assurance of Christ's final victory. The seven visions that the apostle John records describe the ongoing struggle between Christ and Satan. In these visions, God assures believers that they will have eternal victory in heaven and that Satan will finally be defeated. New members are always welcome. Interpreter provided.

Wednesday Morning Adult Bible Class
10:00 AM at Bloomington Lutheran School

St. Paul's letter to the Romans is the first epistle in the New Testament. It summarizes so well the essential emphasis of the apostle's evangelical theology. Martin Luther had an especially exalted view of Romans:  "This epistle is really the chief part of the New Testament, and is truly the purest Gospel. It is worthy not only that every Christian should know it word for word, by heart, but also that he should occupy himself with it every day, as the daily bread of the soul. We can never read it or ponder over it too much; for the more we deal with it, the more precious it becomes and the better it tastes." Join us as we study the book of Romans.

Wednesday Bible Classes for Women
